FAQ

Q: How much is shipping?

A:
Shipping is based upon weight using Australia Post calculations. To estimate shipping: Add items to your cart, click on 'Shopping Cart' and select 'Estimate Shipping & Taxes'. Then you can enter your postcode and it will tell you how much postage will cost without having to create an account. Orders over $200 within Australia are free postage.

Q: Do you offer wholesale on your products?

A: Sorry at this stage wholesale pricing is not available. This is currently a small home business and I only make my products in small batches or they are made to order. I am hoping in future wholesale may become available though.

Q: I have two essential oils from two different companies. They are both from the same plant species and grown in same location but they both smell so different, why is this so?

A: There are many factors to consider as to why both essential oils could smell different. One factor could be as a result of adulteration and the use of synthetic components to make the essential oil smell more appealing. Often 100% pure essential oils may smell different to the actual plant itself because the company may use all components of the plant like the leaves, and twigs etc and not just the flower. This is because essential oils are created for therapeutic use and not just for their aroma.

If you are sure that the essential oil is 100% pure, other factors to consider are - where the plant was grown, soil and climate conditions, time of harvest, distillation equipment, plus the time, temperature and pressure of distillation. Sometimes the distiller can distill the oils quicker and that also affects the price of the oils not just the smell. As with most things less time equals less money. Sometimes the oil may even be distilled more than once. These factors also affect the natural chemical makeup of the essential oil and it's therapeutic benefits. This can give you an idea as to why two varieties of the same oil can smell so different.

Q: What are the differences between essential oils and fragrant oils?

A: There is a significant difference between pure essential oils and fragrant oils. Essential oils are concentrated essences/oils obtained from true plant parts and are generally 70 times stronger than the plant itself. Fragrant oils are synthetic chemical scents that are produced by blending aromatic chemicals. They may or may not contain some essential oil. You can read more on our blog post.

Q: Do you sell fragrant oils for soap and candle making?

A: Sorry no we only sell pure and 100% natural essential oils that are designed for therapeutic use. Our 100% pure essential oils can be used in your soaps and skin care products but you may need a higher ratio of essential oils for use in candles and reed diffusers than you would with fragrant oils.

Q: Are all essential oils safe to use?

A: Essential oils are approximately 70 times stronger than the plant that they came from, and it doesn't automatically make them safe because they are natural. Essential oils pose little or no risk though if used correctly. Always consult a health care practitioner such as an aromatherapist before using essential oils to treat medical conditions. You can read all our safety information here.

Q: What are organic and certified organic essential oils?

A: Organic plants are grown without the use of agrochemical pesticides, weed killers or synthetic fertiliser etc. Organic essential oils come from plants grown using this method, but the farms in which they are grown have not achieved “Certified Organic” accreditation.

"Certified Organic" means plants have been grown according to strict uniform standards which are verified by an independent state or private organisation. A farm that produces certified organic plants and essential oils has met the strict standards criteria, and has been issued with certification that all products produced are organic.

Q: What does 'therapeutic grade' mean?

A: Simply put, the term 'therapeutic grade' is actually just a registered trademark that you may have heard being used by particular essential oil suppliers. This just basically means that other companies can not actually use this term when advertising their essential oils (even though they do). No governmental agency or generally accepted organisation grades or certifies essential oils as 'therapeutic grade' , 'medicinal grade', or 'aromatherapy grade'. It does not necessarily mean that they are purer or better quality. Regardless if the term used is 'therapeutic grade' or not, essential oils should not be ingested unless prescribed by someone who is qualified in advanced aromatic medicine.

The essential oils that I sell are 100% pure and are suitable for therapeutic use. Therapeutic use means that they can be used to help treat health conditions, applied topically to the skin etc. Please always seek medical advise prior to treating any medical conditions. As an aromatherapist I have studied the oils extensively prior to creating the products you see on my website. I source all the essential oils from suppliers who can provide me with Material Safety Data (MSDS) and certificates of analysis (COfA) to ensure that the products I create are 100% pure and unadulterated.

Q: What is the difference between using an ultrasonic diffuser and burning / warming essential oils ?

A: Ultrasonic diffusers act by generating approximately 1.7 million ultrasonic vibrations per second as a nebulizer system which ionizes essential oil molecules into the air using a heat-free diffusion method. Negative ions are known to help reduce illnesses and protect against germs in the air, resulting in decreased irritations.

This cool mist becomes a vapour which spreads evenly through the room. Most act as an essential oil / aroma vaporizer, humidifier, air purifier and ionizer. Some also have the added feature of being a night or mood light. Most are generally quiet, aside from some having a soothing bubbling sound effect of the water which can create an even more relaxing atmosphere.

Ultrasonic diffusers work by emitting micro droplets of water vapour into the air. These tiny droplets are highly beneficial for your skin and general well being.

Diffusing essential oils with anti bacterial properties can kill airborne virus, bacteria, fungus, and mould. Did you know diffusing a blend of cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, lemon, and rosemary oils can kill 99% of airborne bacteria in 12 minutes! This blend is also known as 'Thieves' and is also available for sale in our online store. Diffusing lemon essential oil alone is also great for preventing and helping to cure colds and flu.

When burning or warming essential oils there isn't as many therapeutic benefits as there is with ultrasonic diffusing. The essential oils are generally just being warmed up which releases the scent of the oil around the room and most of the oil is evaporated so therefore it does not last as long. The scent may create a relaxing atmosphere, but with diffusing you are actually breathing in the micro vapour and gaining the maximum therapeutic benefits of the essential oils.

Q: Why are your wood look ultrasonic diffusers made from plastic material and not real wood?

A: It is most preferable for ultrasonic diffusers to be non porous and made from plastic / PP material so that they can be easily cleaned out & kept hygienic. This material makes them ideal for use within medical or hospital environments. Plastic #5 - Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic polymer that is BPA free. It is strong, tough, has a high resistance to heat and acts as a barrier to moisture. It is most often used in yoghurt and margarine tubs, kitchenware and baby bottles. Ultrasonic diffusers need to hold essential oils and water for long period of time so this is the best material to prevent damaging the electronic components of the diffusers. Please wipe the essential oils out after each use to extend the life of your aromatherapy diffusers and prevent discolouring or build up of essential oils. Unlike essential oil warmers which are ceramic, ultrasonic diffusers do not require heating of the oils. It also means they can act as a humidifer. Plastic is more durable and less likely to break when dropped.

Q: Do you still sell Young Living products?

A: As of April 2017 I no longer sell Young Living products on my website as I wish to focus on my own aromatherapy line. Young Living was the company that first introduced me to essential oils. I understand there has been a lot of hype about Young Living and other independent distributors in the media of late. Please take note that I do not agree with some of the information that other Young Living consultants post on social media. Please always refer to a trained aromatherapist prior to using essential oils. Never ingest essential oils regardless of quality or the claims made by those who have not been trained in aromatherapy.
